New Smart Wetlands Being Built in LOamI, IL

Construction will begin within days and there will a field day to show off the new wetlands on June 24, 2026. UPdates on construction and the field day will be posted regularly on this page. Check back for more details on June 1, 2026.

ABOVE: The brown area in the photograph above is currently being transformed into a Smart Wetland complex that will remove excess nutrients and pesticides from underground agricultural drainage tile that flows into this area and eventually into Lake Springfield.
